                            Communication Arts
Dec. 5-8


Writing Assignment: Students will work in their newspaper groups to complete the front page(final copy due 12-7) of their Ancient Egyptian Newspaper.  Group members will write  the rough draft(due with revisions/editing 12-8) for their 2nd local story. 


Monday =  snow day

Tuesday =  groups will work on rough drafts for second local story and work on final copy of front page.

Wednesday =
groups will work on rough drafts for second local story and work on final copy of front page.
Thursday =
groups will revise and edit rough drafts and work other options for "local" section of newspaper.
Friday =    Final local story is due and should be written in local section of newspaper. 

Guided Reading lessons every day with groups of students.


Center Work

 
*Fluency
=   Students will read a play and focus on reading with expression and smoothness.
*Word Work = week 9Students use word wall words to do various activities. 
*Comprehension  Students will read an article about mummies and answer quetions.

* SSR/ Response Writing =  students will read about Egypt in their Social Studies book and create an outline of important information.
Newspaperstudents complete a scavenger hunt to learn about all of the sections of the newspaper.
Daily Language Review = students review language skills.
Poetry = students read Egyptian poetry and create two poems of their own.
Game = Students play the game "Outburst"
Quotations Students work on direct and indirect quotes.
Antonyms Students match antonyms.

   
                      
 
Things to remember: 
                         * Every Wednesday is study group day at 7:30 a.m.
                         * Mid-Quarter grade go home Nov. 30th
                         * December 12th Craft night 3:30-5:00p.m. $8
