THE ART BOX
Right now we are finishing up some incomplete projects.  We will be starting Greek projects next week.
WANTED:
Age appropriate prizes for our Art auction in April.  (Example: cans of soda, beef jerky, Dollar Store items, candy bars, etc.)  Any donations will be accepted no matter how big or small.  Thank you!

MATH MADNESS...
We have completed our unit on fractions… now, it’s on to Algebra!
Parents, you may want to consider enrolling your child in summer school!  I will be teaching a finance unit titled, “Show Me the Money!”  Students will take on the identity of someone who is 18 and will make financial decisions for that person until retirement age.  It is a great way for students to learn about savings, checking, credit and more!  Students get a taste of what the real world is like as they learn to make ends meet.

AROUND THE ANCIENT WORLD IN 9 MONTHS
Students will have an Ancient Greece TEST on Tuesday, April 5th!
The next ancient civilization we will explore will be ROME!

SCIENCE SCOOP
We are currently working on a unit on light and sound.  We will have a quiz over this unit, not a test.  I gave an opportunity before spring break for students to make corrections on their cell test.  I averaged their two scores together. Those who corrected their cell tests, helped their grade for this quarter.

McTEACHER NIGHT
Haven't you always wanted to see your teacher work behind the counter at
McDonald's?  Well you will have your chance if you come to the Kearney
Street McDonald's Monday, April 4th between 4:00 and 8:00 P.M. for McTeacher Night!  20% of the profits during those four hours will go to benefit technology at WMS!!

THE ALLEE
We are starting new spelling words and will have a Spelling/Language test on April 8th .  We will also be starting a new unit on reading and comprehension skills using Action reading magazine.

COMMUNICATION ARTS CORNER
This year 6th graders will be taking the "Expanded MAP" test in language arts.  In conjunction with the No Child Left Behind Act, Missouri students will be tested yearly in both math and language arts, rather than in just the designated MAP years.  The test the students will take this year is in  the last stage of development and is a field test version.  It contains reading selections with short answers (constructed response as well as multiple choice (selected response) items.  This test will be somewhat longer than the final version, which will be used next year.  The purpose of this test is to determine how our 6th graders are progressing in both reading and writing.  The math version is expected to come out next year.

Don't Forget:  AGENDAS MUST BE SIGNED EACH WEEK!
